Code of Conduct
In short: be accurate, be fair, respect people and respect the law. The points below set out how we expect everyone to take part.

We are a campaign group
Not4IOM opposes the Mooir Vannin offshore wind farm and exists to share accurate information about the project and the MIMA 2016 examination, and to coordinate lawful opposition to it. Good-faith questions and dissent are welcome, but this is not a neutral debating forum: sustained promotion of the Applicant's case may be removed.

Respect people; attack arguments
No abuse, harassment, intimidation or hate speech directed at members, officials or anyone else, including content that targets or demeans people on grounds of race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, disability, age, sex, sexual orientation or gender identity.

Opinion is fine — label it
Present opinion as opinion, based on facts you state or link to. Statements of fact must be supportable by evidence. Criticism of public bodies, and of officeholders acting in their public capacity, is legitimate — but must still be accurate and honest.

No defamation — and shares count
Do not allege dishonesty, corruption or unlawful conduct against any identifiable person or organisation without credible supporting evidence. Sharing, screenshotting or repeating someone else's allegation is, in law, a fresh publication for which you are personally responsible. Moderators may remove any post raising defamation concerns immediately and without notice; removal is precautionary and implies no view on the merits.

Link to sources
Cite examination library references, Tynwald records and official publications rather than paraphrasing them, and link to press articles rather than reproducing them, particularly paywalled material. Distinguish what the Applicant claims from what has been established or decided. Correct errors promptly when pointed out.

The examination: comment freely, use proper channels
Nothing in this Code restricts lawful public comment on the Mooir Vannin application or the MIMA 2016 examination — Tynwald's sub judice rules bind Tynwald, not the public. However, do not contact the Examining Body, the Case Management team or witnesses directly about the examination, and do not organise or encourage contact campaigns against named individuals. Representations belong in the published examination procedures.

Respect privacy
Do not post private information — home addresses, private contact details, family or health matters — or private messages or personal photographs without consent. No doxxing. Information about officeholders and public figures should relate to their public role and be drawn from public sources.

Declare your interests
If you have a material connection to the Applicant, its contractors or advisers, or to a Government department involved in the application, say so when posting on related matters. Undeclared conflicted posting may be removed on that ground alone.

Campaign content yes, spam no
Campaign fundraising, petitions and events are welcome, with moderator approval where appropriate; unrelated advertising and promotion will be removed. Comply with Isle of Man law and Facebook's Community Standards.

Moderation
Posts are the views of their individual authors, not of Not4IOM. Moderators may remove content, require edits, issue warnings, and suspend or remove members for serious or repeated breaches; content reported as potentially unlawful may be removed pending review. Moderator decisions are final. Raise moderation concerns privately with the moderation team — by direct message or Facebook's report function — not in the group.
