A Manx beach looking out to sea, with 87 industrial wind turbines mocked up on the horizon
7,000+ residents and climbing

This is OUR island.
OUR home. OUR heritage.

87 industrial turbines, each over 350m tall, are proposed just 6 miles from our shore — covering 81 square miles of our waters. Taller than the Eiffel Tower. We are not against renewable energy. We are against losing what makes the Isle of Man unique — for a project that gives us almost nothing in return.

We are not against renewable energy, and we are not against progress. But we are against losing what makes the Isle of Man unique — for a project that gives us almost nothing in return.

The proposal

What is actually being proposed

The Isle of Man is defined by its natural horizons, its quiet seas, its dark skies and its unique wildlife. Here is what 87 turbines off our east coast would mean.

87 industrial turbines

An industrial power station built across the sea off our east coast — not a handful of turbines, but dozens upon dozens.

Just 6 miles from shore

Close enough to dominate the view from our coast and change our seascape forever.

81 square miles of our waters

A vast footprint covering much of the sea that defines the island's east coast.

Over prime fishing grounds

Built across some of the island's most important Manx fishing grounds, with years of construction disruption.

The power is for the UK

The electricity is destined for the UK grid — with no guarantee of energy security or cheaper power for us.

An unclear clean-up bill

If the operator is gone in 35 years, the island could face a potential £400M+ decommissioning bill. Clean-up costs are not clear.

Why we must stand together

The reality behind the marketing

The initial statutory consultation was a failure — because the public is only now beginning to understand what this project really means.

Four concerns sit at the heart of this campaign. As more emerge, they'll be added to the campaign's View Information page.

No energy security

Contrary to the marketing, this wind farm will not give the Isle of Man energy security, cheaper electricity, or help us meet our 2030 clean-energy commitments.

The electricity is destined for the UK.

"Is OUR island bearing the burden for foreign grid capacity?"

Minimal financial benefit

Seabed rental has been minimal — around £10,000 a year. It may be many years before the island sees meaningful income, if any. Key financial documents, like the Agreement for Lease, remain undisclosed — so no one can properly weigh benefit against harm.

If the company is gone in 35 years, we could face a £400M+ decommissioning bill.

"Will OUR island heritage be betrayed for 30 pieces of silver?"

Environmental damage

We risk permanent damage to our landscapes, seascapes, dark skies and UNESCO biosphere status — the very foundation of our tourism industry.

And long-term disruption to marine life and fishing grounds, through years of construction and operation.

"Will we prostitute OUR island? For what?"

Industrialised waters & future expansion

This risks permanent loss of sea room for navigation and ferry routes. Documentation for the UK connection points to oversized infrastructure — and the potential for future "farms", plural.

With no marine plan and an opaque lease, we risk ceding our waters for decades to uncontrolled, unconsulted expansion — unable to use our own sea for our own energy projects.

"Will OUR island become 'wind-farm island'?"
